Members of the Sunflower Woodworker's guild get together each year to build quality wooden toys for needy youngsters. The toy program is a very popular community service project, and allows members to become better acquainted with other members on their team. The time Guild members spend securing wood and building the toys is very much appreciated by needy children.
Completed toys are then given to the Society of Decorative Painters, Art Galleries, High School's and Universities who paint and decorate them. Toys are given to the Salvation Army for distribution to disadvantaged children at Christmas time. As one member put it "I can just see the eyes of the children who receive the toys at Christmas time".
Our Guild has made hundreds of toys over the past several years with a majority of them being painted by local artists.
